Take Literacy Training and Become A Tutor

Volunteer tutors take 15 hours of training in the Lau Bach method for teaching adult basic reading skills. Volunteer tutors are assigned at least one student and are asked to devote 2-4 hours per week tutoring an adult for at least a year.

Volunteer to Help the Council

Volunteers can assist the Council by providing clerical help, handling telephone calls, working on the quarterly newsletter, etc. for 1-4 hours per week.

Lead A Student Support Group

Volunteers can help adult students achieve higher levels of literacy by leading group sessions to keep learners focused on improving their life skills.
